Our Summer Intensive Blog

WelcomeWelcome to our blog dedicated to the Summer Intensive program at Ballet des Amériques. The summer program has a special place in the history of our school. In fact, we opened our first studio – the 1,650 square foot Studio Anna Pavlova – with a Summer Intensive on July 11, 2011:FlockingYet, in a very important sense, the Summer Intensive program at Ballet des Amériques predates the opening of our school by many years, as it is the unique creation of our Director, Carole Alexis, who devised the curriculum and method based on her many years of experience in pre-professional ballet training. Known for her ability to engage even young children in rigorous pre-professional dance training with focus and discipline, Carole Alexis was the first to expand the scope of intensive dance training during the summer months to include younger students.including-young-students-1024x764In keeping with our Director’s interdisciplinary and holistic approach to dance training, education and performance, the Summer Intensive curriculum also includes music and voice, ballet terminology (French), dance history, acting, arts and crafts, folkloric dance and stage makeup.music_and_art

Fostering curiosity and creativity in a joyful atmosphere and focussing these creative energies through disciplined exercise are essential ingredients for learning the art of dance.warmupcorrection2barrewarmup2-1024x764Summer Intensives at Ballet des Amériques provide a sociable and respectful learning and training environment, which combined with close supervision and detailed corrections will allow your child to excel.barre2andcorrection
